Yes, It's 10:40pm right now. I know it's a late blog post but not much I could do about it. I just got back from my school after spending 8 hours there dealing with graduation prep work and the such. Which I'll explain in a bit and discuss my 2D animation practice goal afterwards.
Soo, yea. Everything I need to present is due this Monday. And luckily I got the important stuff out of the way now, namely the portfolio animation project and the DVD they want. As for the animation I did for my graduation portfolio I did two smaller scale animations rather than a 3 minute short. And while I do believe I made the right choice, my timing was a bit off. About 10 weeks off. So I had 20 of the 30 weeks total to work on these projects, and I managed to get them finished.
Along side of the portfolio animations the school wanted our demo reel to be presented along with our portfolio animations on a DVD. And that's fine, understandable. But we were shown how to create the DVD with IDVD, which is on Mac computers, When pretty much our entire time in school was spent with Windows computers. And oh the problems that cropped up. Thanks to the school server we have a lot of the Windows to Mac transfer issues were mitigated. Then there was the Mac computers refusing to burn our movies onto our DVDs. The process was annoying but after about an hour or two I got it to burn onto a CD without failing.
Lastly the school wanted us to create business cards, which wasn't too much trouble to do. Though I may have to change somethings for mine to have it 1-sided instead of double-sided. The business card is the last thing I have to take care of. And weight on my shoulders have effectively vanished.
Now, In terms of my 2D animation goals. I think I'm going to do something different, at the moment anyway. I wont scrap the animation I was currently working on, but putting it aside to work on something different. I pulled a clip from the last episode of Rooster Teeth's RWBY, a 30 second fight scene animated by Monty Oum. I plan to recreate that scene with flash and practice using 30 fps as well. I can't say I'll start it anytime soon, not until all my school worries have been dealt with.
