DESIGN WEEK #2
So this second week was pretty fun to work on. When thinking about how to go about it I chose 3 pretty standard types of power-ups to choose from being speed, defense, and power, and did 3 concepts for each of them before choosing which one I wanted to create. In the end after doing the sketches I chose to create a speed power-up for this week and this is the result.

Yea, so after making the speed power-up, I liked the way it turned out so I ended up doing the power power-up as well. I made sure I used the same technique I used on the speed power-up so that the strength one looked similar in style. That being, choosing a small selection of colors that match the feeling of each power-up, and then changing the values and saturation for different parts, such as the different values on the shoe, and the dark and lights on the fist. I the end I really like how these two turned out. As for week #3, I'm going to create a logo for a fictional weapons shop called Mason's Armaments.
DISCUSSIONS
A few days ago, I was watching a live stream of an animator named Miccool. He was streaming his work on an animation called Summoner Showdown. During the stream him, a few others, and I were discussing animation, and animation schools, and other animation related topics.
It was an interesting discussion because he is someone who hadn't gone to school for animation while I did, so we discussed the kind of things I learned, how it was overall, and if it's really worth it to go to school for animation or to dive into it yourself and be self taught. And I think both work, the time I spent at The Art Institute was great, and I met some amazing people there and learned a lot. But with the costs of college so incredibly high, someone who's dedicated to learning themselves as Miccool did can still become an amazing animator without the assistance of a school and teachers.
Speaking of him, you can view his stuff on his YouTube page, or on his Deviant Art Page, and view his livestream on his Twitch Page

SUMMONER SHOWDOWN
Summoner Showdown: This thing of the week I bring you Summoner Showdown, a series of shorts created by a group of animators such as Terkoiz and Miccool about League of Legends. The first Summoner Showdown: Lee Sin vs Teemo was shown live during Riot Game's League Championship Series last year. The second Summoner Showdown: Bottom Lane came out later that same year. If you're a fan of League of Legends you'll definitely enjoy these shorts, with the next one being working on now. There's a lot to look forward to.
